Katy Perry Dishes On Finding Her Voice Again

While some may assume she's referring to John Mayer or Russell Brand, it turns out she was talking about something she might find more important: an education.

"I'm kind of bummed at this stage that I didn't have a great education because I could really use that these days," Perry told Yahoo! posted on Friday.

The pop star apparently dropped out of high school during her freshman year, and with having her parents begin new churches, they were rarely staying in one place.

"I was being pulled out of school even in the middle of school and sometimes being home-schooled," she said. "Sometimes we were sent to these really half-Christian, half-education, I-don't-know-what-they-were schools."

Perry then recalled a time in her school years when a teacher helped her become the success she is today.

"There was a teacher named Agatha Danoff who was my vocal teacher and music teacher at the Music Academy of the West. It was very fancy and I didn't come from any money... and she always used to give me a break for my lessons," the "Birthday" singer said. "I owe her a lot of credit and I appreciate that she looked out for me when I didn't have enough money to pay."

This caused Perry to partner up with Staples to raise money for teachers through DonorsChoose.org.
