President Obama revealed his adoration for Anne Hathaway's portrayal of the Catwoman in "Dark Knight Rises" at a fundraiser she co-hosted on Monday.

"She's spectacular. I got a chance to see 'Batman,' and she was the best thing in it. That's just my personal opinion."

The event was held at the home of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. It was co-hosted by Hathaway, HBO's "Newsroom" star Aaron Sorkin and VOGUE magazine's Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, according to Hollywood Reporter.

50 people attended the party after paying the admission price of $35,800, added the report. The private event was held at the Westport, Connecticut home of Weinstein and his wife, fashion designer Georgina Chapman. Ticket sales will go directly into Obama's campaign fund.

Mr. Weinstein dubbed Obama the "Paul Newman of American Presidents" during the introduction.

"Recently in Aurora, we saw him put his arms around the people that needed him the most," he added.

"The Dark Knight Rises" led the box office for the third weekend in a row, pulling in $35.7 million and raising its domestic total gross receipts to $358.6 million.

The film earned a reported $160.9 million in its opening weekend, making it the third best film debut of all time. Film predictors anticipated that the film would gross between $180 and 200 million during its first three days but the tragic shooting at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado slowed attendance at movie theaters nationwide.

Weinstein runs the Weinstein Company, where he executive produces ward-winning films. One of his last films, "The Artist," a French black and white silent film won five Academy Awards last year. He also served as Executive Producer for two "Lord Of The Rings" films and collaborated with film director Quentin Tarantino on "Inglorious Basterds," "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill."
