Zooey Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik are not only going to be parents, they will soon also be husband and wife.

Deschanel's rep confirmed that the couple is engaged a week after the New Girl actress announced that she and Pechenik are expecting their first child together. The baby will arrive this summer.

"Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one," Deschanel told People in a statement.

Deschanel, 34, and the film producer, 42, have been together since mid 2014 after meeting onset of the upcoming movie Rock the Kasbah.

The couple made their first red carpet appearance together at the 2014 Emmy Awards in August. As pictured above, the actress wore a hot pink strapless Oscar de la Renta dress while her beau sported a black suit.

Deschanel was previously in a two-year relationship with screenwriter Jamie Linden and was married to the lead vocalist of Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Gibbard, from 2009 to 2012.

When People asked her about her divorce at the time, the actress didn't get into any detail but said, "We're friendly. It's all fine."
