Catherine O'Hara's final days were marked after slowly fading away from a major TV project, a skipped awards ceremony and an early morning medical emergency which took her life at 71.

Creative Artists Agency released a statement saying that she had died following a brief illness.

Catherine O'Hara 911 Call and Early Morning Hospitalization Details

According to the dispatch audio that Daily Mail obtained, she was said to have been having difficulty breathing before the paramedics got there.

One of the Los Angeles Fire Department spokespersons confirmed the timeline and the seriousness of the incident.

They said they were notified at 4:48 a.m. of a medical aid request at her address and took a 70-year-old female who was in serious condition.

Page Six also informed that paramedics responded to a medical aid call at the house and got O'Hara to a nearby hospital in serious condition, where she eventually passed away.

The representatives didn't go into detail confirming she died after a short illness. There have been reports that O'Hara was diagnosed with situs inversus, a rare anatomical condition where internal organs are the mirror image of their normal positions, although it is not known whether that had anything to do with her death.

Catherine O'Hara Missed "The Studio" Season 2 Filming Before Death

In the days before the emergency, O'Hara did not appear for the start of Season 2 production on the Apple TV+ series "The Studio," despite being expected back on set.

Production sources told The U.S. Sun that filming began in mid-January but schedules were reworked to shoot around her absence due to "personal matters." Insiders said the adjustment was handled quietly and that most cast and crew did not know she was facing health-related issues.

"She was scheduled to film, but they reworked the schedule to focus on scenes without her character," one production insider told the outlet, adding, "I don't believe she ever filmed anything for season two."

O'Hara was widely praised for her first season portrayal of studio executive Patty Leigh, and emitted nominations from Emmys, SAG Awards and Golden Globes.

However, she did not attend the January 2026 Golden Globe Awards ceremony, where she was nominated for her performance in "The Studio." There was no official explanation for her no- show at the time.

Colleagues were described as stunned by the news of her death. One source close to the production told The U.S. Sun that the news was a total shock, since they considered her to be the most beloved person on the set.

The last time O'Hara was prominently visible to the public was around Emmy events in September 2025 and at the Toronto International Film Festival, where longtime collaborator Eugene Levy gave her a career achievement award.

During her acceptance remarks, she told him, "Eugene, that's too much. Thank you, darling," and added, "When I think of my happiest days in this adventure in show business, I realize most of them have been with you."
