Katie Holmes has spoken out for the first time since her divorce.  The 33-year-old said that the suffering that millions of people go through in life puts her discrepancies in complete perspective.

According to Woman's Wear Daily, Holmes had recently stated the following:

"I try to keep it all in perspective.  There are a lot of people with much bigger problems and who are less fortunate."

Holmes is also realistic when it comes to her parenting skills with daughter Suri, as she is not ashamed to admit her shortcomings, according to Reality TV Magazine.

"(Sometimes) I think, Oh, I'm a great mom and then it doesn't really pan out the way I think it's going to. But the intention's there. "

The star mother told the site that she aims to keep her mind busy by staying creative.

"I've always painted and done crafts at home - I have to stay creative in every aspect (of my life).   My sister teaches art, and she gives me a lot of ideas."

She said that she attempts to do something brand new each and every day "without being afraid to fail."  If failure does occur then Holmes has no qualms about it.

"Who cares?  At least you tried," she said.

The actress, who had just been revealed to be the first celebrity face of the cosmetics firm Bobbi Brown, insinuated that she has no regrets about her unsuccessful marriage to A-lister Tom Cruise.

The respective divorce had just been finalized in August.  Holmes currently has custody of the 6-year-old and has received a considerably large amount of child support.

Little Suri had began going to school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York in September.  She had previously been home schooled.

Holmes has been herself keeping busy at New York Fashion Week, where she had revealed her very first collection on Sunday.
