Tim McGraw's family is proud of what he did in Los Angeles this week.

Tim McGraw Making Epic Return To Nashville

The Meanwhile Back At Mama's singer attended the 87th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday with wife and fellow country artist Faith Hill. McGraw wasn't just there as a guest though. He was also at the show to perform Glen Campbell's Oscar nominated song I'm Not Gonna Miss You from the emotional documentary, Glen Campbell, I'll Be Me.

Both Campbell's wife and daughter were at the Oscars that night, but Campbell himself could not be there due to his advancing Alzheimer's, which is also the subject of the documentary.

Tim McGraw Inspires New Generation To Appreciate Glen Campbell

"I hope that even for a second that [Campbell] was able to understand what he's done," said McGraw during an interview with USA Today on Thursday. "I hope he saw how well his song has done and how it touched people."

When Campbell found out that he had Alzheimer's, he decided to launch a final tour across the country and document it for his friends, family, and the public. By shining a light on his brave journey, he has inspired awareness about it.

McGraw admitted that he was nervous about performing such an important song at such a major event, though he did develop a trick for looking out at a crowd of incredibly famous faces. Apparently the singer decided that Emma Stone's (Birdman) mother had a kind face and that it was easiest to look out at her whenever he had to catch a glimpse of the audience. "That gave me some relief or comfort," he noted.

The biggest comfort of all, however, was what was waiting for McGraw when he returned home this week to his three daughters.

"I walked into the house this morning," he said. "There was a big sign all our kids had made for me that said 'Good Job Dad.' That was pretty nice to walk home to."
