Danish actress Brigitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger had a "hot affair" in 1985 while he was in a relationship with Maria Shriver, the actor confessed in his new autobiography, "Total Recall: My Unbelievabably True Life Story."

Schwarzenegger and Nielsen had the affair while they filmed Red Sonja, according to Time magazine. Although he wasn't married with Shriver then, they were living together.

"Maybe I wouldn't have got into it if he said 'I'm going to marry Maria' and this is dead serious, but he didn't, and our affair carried on," she said back then.

According to Time, Schwarzenegger says he never took the affair seriously and only convinced him to marry Shriver.

In his new book, the actor and former Governor of California said his affair with Mildred Baena (the family house keeper) was "the stupidest thing" he did in his marriage to Shriver.

He admitted that the affair "inflicted tremendous pain" in his family.

In an excerpt of a "60 minutes" interview aired Friday, Schwarzenegger admits that he lied to Shriver about the affair.

Shriver is reportedly disappointed that "60 minutes" didn't reach out to her for the segment.

Nielsen was married to Sylvester Stallone in 1985 but their marriage ended 19 months later. It is unclear whether her affair with Schwarzenegger came before or after her marriage to Stallone.
