The wait is over for DC fans as an official cast photo for Suicide Squad has been released, featuring Harley Quinn, Deadshot and many more.

'Suicide Squad' Has Found Their Amanda Waller In This Popular TV Star

Director David Ayer has released a photo of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Rick Flagg, Boomerang, Enchantress, Killer Croc, Slipknot and El Diablo, who are all apparently members of the new Suicide Squad in the film.

The image is certainly in keeping with DC's style of being dark and gritty, with Harley Quinn being the most obvious pop of color in the photo.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Suicide Squad, here is some basic info from the comics that you'll need to know before going into the film.

Floyd Lawton / Deadshot (played by Will Smith)

Deadshot, whose real name is Floyd Lawton is an excellent marksman who is one of the most important members of the Suicide Squad. He is someone who does not care if he dies and wishes to do so in a spectacular fashion. He sports guns on his wrists and has a cybernetic eye.

The Joker (played by Jared Leto)

Self-explanatory to even the most casual of superhero fans, the Joker has a love of anarchy and sports a psychotic laugh. A separate photo of Leto as the Joker has been released, to mixed reception.

Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie)

One of the more recognizable members of the Suicide Squad is Harley Quinn, real name Harleen Quinzel. Commonly referred to as the Joker's girlfriend, Harley Quinn is an accomplice of the menacing villain with great agility and an immunity to various toxins.

Rick Flagg (played by Joel Kinnaman)

The real muscle of the group, Rick Flagg is a military expert trained in combat and surveillance. Tom Hardy was originally supposed to play the role, but it wound up going to Kinnaman.

Boomerang (played by Jai Courtney)

Otherwise known as George "Digger" Harkness, Boomerang lives up to his name with his ability to perform tricks with a boomerang. He is the troublemaker of the group.

Enchantress (played by Cara Delevingne)

Enchantress, also known as June Moone, has the ability to conjure up magic spells. In the comics, she comes to realize that her Enchantress side is another separate entity unto itself, not something that's within her.

Killer Croc (played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje)

In terms of brute strength, Killer Croc might be unparalleled. Another Batman villain, Killer Croc was born Waylon Jones and has the traits of a reptile, hence his nickname.

Slipknot (played by Adam Beach)

Slipknot, born Christopher Weiss, is very skilled in the art of ropes who is also a trained assassin.

Katana (played by Karen Fukuhara)

A samurai warrior, Katana's real name is Takeo Yamashiro. She has a sword called the Soultaker which gives her the ability to communicate with the soul of the person she kills with it.

El Diablo (played by Jay Hernandez)

El Diablo, real name Chato Santana, is a boxer and athlete.

Suicide Squad is scheduled for release in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
