"Both mommy and baby are healthy and her whole family is thrilled," Mowry's rep told InTouch. "He is a big strong kid and he and mom are resting well with dad alongside."

Tamera Mowry married Fox News Correspondent Adam Housley after dating for almost six years. The couple married on May 15, 2011.

Mowry told her fans how much she was ready to have the baby in the PEOPLE blog Mom's & Babies.

"I can now say that I am down to the wire. I seriously feel like I have been pregnant forever," Mowry shared. "Almost 10 months to be exact! Thirty-nine weeks in and no baby yet. 'This has now become a waiting game,' my OB told me."

Mowry is famous for her roles on shows like "Sister, Sister" and "Tia & Tamera" with her twin sister Tia.

Before giving birth this week, the actress had said planned on having a natural childbirth with the aid of her sister Tia Mowry-Hardict.

In an interview with US Weekly on Oct. 18, Tia talked about her expectations for her sister and the amount of pain she would go through while giving birth.

"She is my sister and we can't take pain," Mowry-Hardict said. She said she expected Tamera to change her mind about having a natural birth. "Pain and us, we just don't mix! She is trying to be brave, which is good . . . but I don't think she is going to make it."

The twins' reality show, "Tia & Tamera" follows their lives on the Style Network. The show debuted in August, 2011.

Tia has a 1-year-old son Cree Taylor.
