Fans and independent artists aren't the only ones praising Taylor Swift for her victory in the brief battle with Apple Music over the royalty policies with their new streaming service.

Taylor Swift Takes On Apple Music --And Wins

The singer's newest romantic interest, Calvin Harris took to Twitter soon after Swift's Tumblr post about why she was pulling her album 1989 from the service went viral and caused Apple to backpedal on their previous policy. In his tweet, Harris not only referred to Swift as "his girl," but praised her for the massive accomplishment.

"I just played a gig inside a giant owl and my girl just changed the entire music industry what a day," he wrote. Swift took to her Tumblr account over the weekend to explain her decision not to provide her latest record-setting album on the new service Apple is providing, which will eventually cost $10 a month, but will give customers three months of free streaming on a trial basis. The company initially announced they would not be paying artists any royalties during that period, which Swift took issue with on behalf of smaller and more independent names in the industry.

"These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child," Swift explained in her post. "These are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much. We simple do not respect this particular call."

"But I say to Apple with all due respect, it's not too late to change this policy and change the minds of those in the music industry who will be deeply and gravely affected by this," she added. "We don't ask you for free iPhones. Please don't ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation."

Shortly after her post, Apple then changed their policy, with Apple's Senior VP of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, taking to Twitter to announce that the company had reversed their decision and would pay artists during the trial period as well.

" #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer's free trial period. We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple," he wrote in a series of tweets.

Swift previously removed her entire music catalog from Spotify last year for a similar issue.

Since her victory over Apple, Swift has received praise from not only Harris, but other celebrities as well, who shared their pride in her taking a stance and inspiring the change.
