The CW has announced when the seventh season of The Vampire Diaries will hit TV screens!

Will Caroline & Stefan Eventually Wind Up Together On 'The Vampire Diaries'?

On Wednesday in a press release, CW revealed that fans would be able to sink their teeth into the new season of The Vampire Diaries in October.

The specific date is October 8 in the 8 p.m. time slot, followed by its spin-off The Originals, which will premiere its third season that night.

Lily Actress Annie Wersching Shares 'BTS' Season 6 Pictures From On Set Of 'The Vampire Diaries'!

This will be the first season of the supernatural series without Nina Dobrev (Elena on the show), but it seems like the focus will shift onto the Salvatore brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley).

Since the sixth season's finale in May, creator Julie Plec has been teasing that a lot will occur in the upcoming seventh season especially surrounding the Salvatore brothers and their mother Lily (Annie Wersching).

For starters there will be a great divide between the brothers and their mother and her heretic friends, which will test Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) loyalty. Caroline (Candice Accola) may even play a major role in Enzo's decision of who deserves his loyalty.

Plus, in video below, Plec and executive producer Caroline Dries teased that Damon will struggle a lot without Elena. So it is going to be a season full of chaos, which is nothing new in Mystic Falls, but it will be a refreshing take without Dobrev around as Elena.

Be sure to tune in starting this October for the seventh season of The Vampire Diaries on The CW at 8 p.m. ET.
