After TMZ published photos of Justin Bieber that made it look like he was smoking marijuana, the "Beauty and a Beat" singer posted on Twitter a message to his fans about the controversial images.

On Jan, 4, the gossip website posted images of the 18-year-old in a Newport Beach hotel "clutching a smoldering blunt at a big party." Sources at the party said the pop singer's friend Lil Twist was also present, and the rapper along with his brother rolled up marijuana joints that they passed around. Bieber is clearly seen holding something that resembles a smoke in his hand.

The photos were reportedly taken two days prior, on Jan. 2. A paparazzi photographer died on Jan. 1 after trying to take photos of Bieber's Ferrari and the story added, "and it's pretty obvious ... Bieber wasn't feeling too bad about the whole situation." Lil Twist, 19, was driving Bieber's car at the time of the incident.

Bieber did not directly address the alleged pot-smoking photos but he did hint to them in the following Twitter message he posted on Jan. 5:

"Everyday growing and learning. Trying to be better. U get knocked down, u get up. I see all of u. I hear all of u. I never want to let any of you down. I love u."

"I'm ready. We are ready. See u all tomorrow and everyday after that," he continued. "Back on tour tomorrow. Ready to see u all smile. Time to do what I'm supposed to be doing. Performing."

Bieber was not present at the time of the car accident that killed the photographer trying to snap photos of the singer's Ferrari. Nevertheless, he expressed his condolences in a statement to Us Weekly. Bieber said that "while he was "not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident," his "thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim."
