Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez may have officially ended things for good in 2014, but their four-year, on-and-off relationship is still something that is prominent in Bieber's memory—and on his upcoming new album, Purpose.

Selena Gomez Looked 'Gorgeous' At The Met Ball, Justin Bieber Said

Speaking with Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, Bieber revealed that he's "never going to stop loving" his ex, explaining that there are "probably like three" songs about Gomez on the record, as well as an emotional one that didn't make the cut.

"I wrote a song [that] didn't make the album, it was called 'If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years," the Biebs explained. "How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time? So many people can relate to that."

The pair's subsequent breakup—which is also heavily featured in Selena Gomez's "The Heart Wants What It Wants" music video—is still a painful subject for Bieber.

"It was really tough. I don't know if I'm over it yet," he revealed. "I think that I'm definitely in another place and I think we've definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her."

"[She] is someone I love dearly. I'm never going to stop loving her. I'm never going to stop checking in on her," Bieber said. I don't think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other."

That all being said, does this mean there is hope for a #Jelena reconciliation in the future? Right now, both singers are focusing on themselves and their careers and will see how things go from there.

"I don't know what happens. I don't know what is going to happen in the future," the "Sorry" singer said. "I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other."
