According to new reports Eva Mendes' comeback in the Fast and Furious franchise will be more than just a part in theeigth installment.

Screen Rant reports that Mendes might actually be getting her own spinoff in the franchise. Although nothing has been made official yet, the report suggests that director F. Gary Gray and actor and producer Vin Diesel have hinted at the fact.

Previously, it had been suggested that Mendes, who played the part of Fuentes in 2 Fast 2 Furious, is actually in talks with the producers for starring the next installment. The actress will most likely be joining Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) to tackle a new villain in New York.

We Got This Covered has information from an anonymous source that Mendes is actually having discussions about coming on board, as we speak.

In fact there have been rumors about other strong female characters joining Fast and Furious 8 with news of actresses like Ruby Rose and Helen Mirren in consideration for parts.

In fact, in a recent interview Michelle Rodriguez addressed the possibility of Mendes returning for the next chapter.

"I think that first off, girls should stop fighting each other and we should start uniting for once," she said. "That's how I feel about that. Secondly, I think that everything is speculation until we actually shooting and we're immortalising stuff on film."

The actress was also rooting for some Mad Max: Fury Road style feminism in the next movie.

"If we were ever to do it, I think you have to be all encompassing. You have to think holistically and look for the broader audiences. And I don't like hating on guys to make women powerful," she said. "I think you can do both. Mad Max is proof of that."

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
