Jesse Eisenberg's version of Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be more "multifaceted" than what we've seen from the character before.

Ben Affleck Compares Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor To Heath Ledger In 'The Dark Knight'

Eisenberg spoke with Playboy recently about inhabiting the role of Lex Luthor Jr. in Batman v Superman. The young star spoke on his portrayal of the character being more "in line" with the type of character various audiences want to see now.

"He has a way of using language that's specific to the way his mind works; he struggles with interesting philosophical dilemmas like that of the individual having too much power, even if that individual is using that power for good," Eisenberg explained. "For instance, Superman has so far been using his powers to do some good, but is it safe to have someone like that walking the streets? It's great that all of this happens in the context of a very exciting superhero movie."

'Batman v Superman' Fans Not Happy With Jesse Eisenberg's Performance

The actor likened Lex to that of a character from old Greek theater, in that he openly states his philosophy, speaking in "broad terms and ideas." And as an actor, Eisenberg admitted that he liked the ability to be as theatrical as he wanted with this role.

Moving on to the topic of working with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill (who play Batman and Superman, respectively), he had nothing but positive things to say.

"They're both very smart, funny people. ... Doing this was a lot of fun because the three of us like to improvise, changing dialogue and all," he said. "But it was also strange for me: I have a lot of respect for both of them and yet my character mocks them both a lot in the movie. But that was just the nature of the thing."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25.
