A Walk to Remember and The Princess Diaries actress Mandy Moore plans to leave ABC's comedy pilot Pulling.

The show features three women in their 30's who come together after one breaks off her wedding. The women live their lives according to how they wish, despite pressures of society telling them they should be settled in their careers and personal lives. It is based on a British series produced in 2006.

Moore, who was the first character cast as one of the major roles in the series, plays a woman named Louise who has an upbeat personality but wants to get married. With June Diane Raphael cast as the lead, supporting actors including Jenny Slate and Moore were added to the show. However, as Moore's character evolved unexpectedly, she decided to step aside.

Once Moore saw that her character began moving in a different direction, she recognized that the role wasn't right for her. "Rather than jeopardize the show, I asked to step aside," she said, according to deadline.com.

Producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who wrote the comedy Bad Teacher, recognized Moore needed to leave and said they hope she joins them in the future.

According to pressandguide.com, the producers enjoyed working with Moore, but said, "As we moved closer to production, it was clear we needed to go in a different direction for the character, and Mandy agreed to do what was best for the show."

ABC Network had produced a comedy pilot earlier in the season where Moore had starred.

She was also involved in a different show earlier in the season, The Rich Appel comedy project.
