Kerry Washington has broken her silence after rumors swirled that her real love life was suffering just as much as her ABC Scandal character, Olivia Pope.

Washington got candid about her marriage to former NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha Sunday and made it clear that all is well between them despite recent speculation.

She opened up about the rumors at the SXSW Festival in Austin Tx. and told Us Weekly, “I think it’s a double-edged sword. I think—and this is something Reese Witherspoon has talked about a lot—it’s different for me because I don’t talk about my personal life.

"Social media has actually been great for [other celebrities’] relationships with the weeklies or the gossip sites because people say things and they say, ‘That’s not true! Just so you know, that’s BS!’”

Still, Washington said she plans on keeping her personal life very private.

“If I don’t talk about my personal life, it means I don’t talk about my personal life. That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what’s going on in my marriage, I don’t refute them, because I don’t talk about my personal life.”

She did add that she and her husband are definitely enjoying parenthood with their daughter Isabelle, who is just weeks away from turning two.

“My husband says that I’m funnier since I became a mom, and that luckily I was pregnant when I did ‘SNL’ because I was really funny.”

She added that they are sometimes tempted to share photos of their child on social media, but quickly change their minds.
