While Hazel E said that Katt Williams’ recent troubles is the reason they split, he has spoken out about their breakup for the first time, and he took a jab at her while he explained the real reason things didn’t work out. But it didn’t take long for Hazel to clap back.

The Chicago Morning Takeover caught up with the comedian, who has been arrested three times in the past month, and of course the topic of his split with Hazel was addressed.

“I don’t know what an item is,” he said when asked they were an “item.” “I’m 44 I've never been married. You know what I am. What y’all saw is one of my players put themselves on the bench and they’re allowed to do that at any point.”

He added that Hazel might not have held the position that she appeared to.

“If any player on my team gets an injury or thinks that they should for whatever reason call a time out and go sit on the bench that’s fine. They might not have been starting anyway, for all you know.”

Hazel E caught wind of the comments and headed to Twitter to respond, making it clear that was definitely more than just an average player on his team.

“It’s more like you fell out of tune with your Star player…Po lil tink tink…”

Hazel told TMZ recently that the two were on a break after she was caught up in a raid.
