Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are still in mourning after the 42-year-old fashion designer and actress's brother, Carlos died of cancer, and they could be considering honoring their loved one in a special way.

The couple has been grieving the loss of her older brother, who passed away on April 17. Mendes had not spoken publicly about his being sick, though she did share a photo with him on Instagramwhen he passed, simply captioning the image with a heart.

Since the news broke, her beau has been spotted out in L.A., though she has not made a public appearance due to her pregnancy with her second child with the star, news which was also announced last month.

The couple of nearly five years, who are already the parents to Esmeralda, 1, are expecting their second child together, though it has not been revealed whether or not they are expecting to give her a little sister or brother.

Following the news about Mendes' brother, the couple could be considering naming their new child after him, something they somewhat did with their daughter's middle name, Amada.

It was revealed not long after the couple welcomed their daughter in September 2014 that her middle name had Spanish roots, and was the same name as a character Mendes played in the film We Own The Night, and it was documented that she had her character's name changed to Amada in the movie to honor her late grandmother, whom she had never met.

If the couple chooses to follow that tradition by honoring Mendes' late brother, they could name a son Carlos or give him that for a middle name. If they give birth to another girl, they could name her Carla or Carly.

It is unclear when the couple is expecting their next child.
