Following the release of the May British UK cover of GK which featured a sexy Emma Watson and a never before seen tattoo on her right hip, internet users began Googling feverishly to find out if the bodyart was the real deal or fake.

In the revealing outfit, complete with cartoonishly large hoop earrings, Watson looks completely unlike her usually understated and conservative self.

However, according to The Inquisitr, fans of the Harry Potter star who were worried about her purity being at risk can be comforted to know that the ink is fake and only a temporary decoration and a reflection of the wild personality her character displays in The Bling Ring.

Additionally, Watson's character boasts a "tramp stamp" tattoo on her lower back which emerged in photos from the set, though this inkwork too is not real.

Watson told GQ that the character was also a major departure for her because "she's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral," adding that the character goes against everything she stands for.

A trailer from The Bling Ring can be viewed below:

Best known as the angelic character of Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter fantasy series, the 22-year-old's upcoming film, if not the GQ cover alone, aims to destroy her typecast image.

To that end, Watson has been strongly linked as one of the stars in the film adaptation of the wildly popular and sexually explicit 50 Shades of Grey novel.

"She's all of these things and I realized that I hated her," Watson told GQ of the Bling Ring character. "How do you play someone you hate? But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job or my role as an actress could be."
