Jamie Lee Curtis opened up on the shocking death of Prince where she sees a part of herself in what he went through.

It's still a mystery on what exactly happened with the singer's fate on April 21, but it appears that he had an addiction to opiates. In Thursday's report from Huffington Post, Curtis mentioned that she, herself, went through a similar situation in her life where she relied on drugs to help her emotions.

"I can relate," she wrote. "I was toxic too."

"I too, waited anxiously for a prescription to be filled for the opiate I was secretly addicted to," she added. "I too, took too many at once. I too, sought to kill emotional and physical pain with pain killers. Kill it. Make it stop."

The actress then explained how an addiction to opiates can usually work and how this tends to consume other people like herself and Prince.

"Most people who become addicted, like me, do so after a prescription for a painkiller following a medical procedure," Curtis wrote. "Once the phenomenon of craving sets in, it is often too late. I, like all of you, mourn the passing of a great artist but I also mourn the passing of potential artists past and present, caught in this deadly vise."

Curtis finished her column by advising others out there to do what they can to stop this from happening to someone else and to not get caught up in such a dangerous turn of events.

"Let's work harder, look closer and do everything we can not to enable and in doing so, disable, our loved ones who are ill," she said. "This is what it sounds like when we all cry."

The death of Prince is still under investigation.
