None other than radio host Angie Martinez has recalled a time in which she got physical with the outspoken radio personality turned daytime television host in her highly anticipated book, My Voice: A Memoir.

Martinez said her beef with Williams began after Williams made mention of labeling almost every guy who was popular in the industry at that time an “undercover brother.”

“Everybody was gay to Wendy,” Martinez writes, according to Bossip. “Every rapper you could think of in that era, I had heard Wendy Williams call them gay. Not one or two. Like every one of them.”

Williams’ accusations hit a little too close to home when she went as far as bringing Martinez’s then boyfriend, rapper Q-Tip into the mix. Williams took to her then blog and wrote, “One of my co-workers is dating Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. Oh well. I guess some women like men who like men.”

That was Martinez’s breaking point, she confessed.

“I lost my mind. Before I knew it I was swinging at her. It was a quick scuffle. It took only a few seconds for me to realize that she wasn’t really hitting me back. She was trying to get me off of her.”

She said one of their other colleagues ended up stopping Martinez from going too far. But Williams wasn’t done and grabbed a mop.

“[She] just stood there with it like she wanted to have some sort of sword fight or something. It was actually kind of funny, even in the moment.”

Martinez added that while she has no “ill feelings toward her,” she can’t deny that Williams deserved the fight.

“The truth is that if it wasn’t me it was gonna be somebody else. She was disrespectful to so many people all the time.”

She spoke on it with The Breakfast Club earlier this month. Check it out at the 21:01 mark below.
