Justin Bieber made a comment recently about late Anne Frank and though the remarks received negative criticism by many, talk show host Piers Morgan has come out defending the pop singer.

The 19-year-old visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam over the weekend and wrote in its guest book that he hoped the young Holocaust victim would have been a "belieber," the term his followers call themselves.

The museum released a statement via Facebook saying, "In our guestbook [Bieber] wrote: 'Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber. "

Some thought the Canadian singer's remarks were "self-serving" and "tasteless," according to Reuters, but Morgan begged to differ. He tweeted on April 15, "I'm backing @justinbieber - again. He meant no offence, and has got the world's youth talking about Anne Frank. This is a good thing."

"I wonder how many of those mocking/abusing @justinbieber on here today have ever spent an hour at the Anne Frank House?" Morgan queried via Twitter. "Give him a break!"

In his final post about the incident, the CNN host added a link to Amazon where people could buy Frank's book The Diary of a Young Girl. He encouraged all those Bieber fans "wondering who Anne Frank is" to purchase the book and educate themselves about the Jewish victim who died at a concentration camp in 1945.

Morgan is an avid Bieber supporter and also defended the Boyfriend singer when he had an altercation with paparazzi last month in London.

The Anne Frank Museum defended Bieber as well, saying on Monday that his Frank comments "were quite innocent" and no offense was taken.

"He was here for more than hour and interested in Anne Frank's life and that for us is the most important thing," a museum spokesperson said.
