The director of the anticipated Wonder Woman movie gave some enticing details on bringing the film to life.

On Saturday, Entertainment Weekly released an interview with Patty Jenkins who's taking charge of the film starring the iconic superhero. She pointed out how Michelle MacLaren was originally going to direct the movie, but backed out six months later. When she was replaced by Jenkins, it turned out that these two shared something in common.

"There was a period of time when we had two very different visions and I wanted them to find the right director for the job," Jenkins said. "It turned out we had a shared vision after all."

This led to wanting to tell the story of Wonder Woman's love story with Steven Trevor played by Chris Pine.

"I didn't want to do anything more complicated," Jenkins said. "From my point of view, this was the movie I was talking to them about for about eight or nine years. I've met with 10 different people at Warner Bros and then it all came together in this one moment."

Other details are being kept a mystery at the moment, but with Jenkins' enthusiasm, this is bound to be a movie worth the wait.

"Part of the reason I'm in such a good mood is this is the movie I've wanted to make me entire life," she said. "I feel so grateful that I get to be able to do this."

Wonder Woman will be played by Gal Gadot who appeared in Batman v Superman as the memorable hero. Other stars include Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope.

The film is expected to hit theaters on June 2, 2017.
