Peter Thomas has done his first interview since his estranged wife, Cynthia Bailey of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, revealed their divorce.

Thomas stopped by The Wendy Williams Show Thursday and did not hold back when he opened up about his and Bailey’s marital status.

Thomas confirmed that he found out in the media about Bailey’s decision to move forward with the divorce. He also revealed he has only seen Bailey once since they separated officially about six months ago.

“We talked about separation,” he said. “We weren’t talking about divorce.”

As for why things didn’t work, Thomas explained why he thinks Thomas filed for divorce and ultimately did so secretly. He pointed out that they have lived many of their important relationship moments in front of cameras from their engagement to their wedding and the fallout of marriage that was their key story line last season.

“She can’t deal with the ridicule for that. I don’t think she was built for that.”

Thomas also hinted that he will be getting paid for his spot on the show this season. No husbands have been paid in the past but it is also no secret that Thomas has a big role in the hit series.

As for Williams’s thoughts, she said Thomas must have done something to Bailey for her not to want to announce their divorce together. Thomas denied any infidelity or “extorting” any of her money for his restaurant businesses.

“Cynthia and I don’t even have a joint bank account,” he said.

He also opened up about the video that went viral last year that showed Thomas getting extra close to a woman. He said the video was taken out of context and that he was actually checking her for making disrespectful comments. He agreed that it looked messy.

“I completely apologize. That was reckless.”

Thomas spoke on a photo of him and a woman that he was said to be on a date with. He said she is actually the President of his company and it’s not unusual for them to grab a meal together. Thomas added that at one point he was even accused of dating someone who turned out to be his daughter.

“I loved being married. I loved going to bed with one woman. I wear my wedding brand. I was proud. I don’t think she embraced it as much for the fact that she’s been single and independent all her life.”
