Kristen Stewart has opened up on her most infamous romance four years after the split.

The actress dated Robert Pattinson when they played on-screen lovers in the Twilight movies, which led to a real-life relationship. The two eventually became one of the biggest couples in Hollywood, something that came with difficulties.

On Wednesday, New York Times posted details from Stewart who had to learn the hard way that it's not a great idea to blend personal lives with professional work.

"People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product," the actress revealed. "It wasn't real life anymore. And that was gross to me. It's not that I want to hide who I am or hide anything I'm doing in my life. It's that I don't want to become part of a story for entertainment value."

Stewart is currently dating visual-effects producer Alicia Cargile. During her interview, the actress looked up some pictures of her girlfriend and said, "Look how cute she is. I love her so much."

Now that she's in a relationship with a woman, Stewart is feeling more freedom in her love life even though she doesn't feel the need to expose every single detail of what it entails.

"I would never talk about any of my relationships before, but once I started dating girls it seemed like there was an opportunity to represent something really positive," she said. "I still want to protect my personal life, but I don't want to seem like I'm protecting the idea, so that does sort of feel like I owe something to people."

As an actress who gained a good haul of attention at a fairly young age, Stewart went through some physical issues. But now, she's taking healthier approaches and gaining more wisdom.

"Nothing killed me," she said. "I was skinny as hell, I looked crazy, but I was fine. I now have faith in my body to carry on, and that has made me a better actor."
