Friends of Selena Gomez are reportedly not thrilled that she has rekindled her romance with Justin Bieber, saying they tried to get her to move on but that Bieber was "persistent" and made his way back into her life.

Friends fear Gomez, 20, made the wrong decision to get back together with her ex-boyfriend, after it was confirmed via a picture Bieber posted on Instagram on April 26. In the respective image the 19-year-old Boyfriend singer sits shirtless in front of a laptop as Gomez hugs his from behind while making a face at the camera. He captioned the black-and-white picture, " 'You've been making music for too long babe come cuddle me' - her."

One "friend" of Gomez's told United Kingdom's The Sun, "We did everything we could to keep them apart but he was so persistent."

"It's really unhealthy they have such a turbulent relationship at such a young age," the insider added. "He leaves her in floods of tears constantly.

"She has had a really difficult year or so dealing with the tense emotions that come with dating him. We thought she had finally broken free. But he has persuaded her to take him back again. There's not much we can do about it - but we are going to try."

The Spring Breakers star and Bieber started dating In 2010 and broke up in late 2012. Her friend also told the publication, "She spent the last year of their relationship an emotional wreck. And we can see no end in sight to this."

Even before the shirtless picture of Bieber with Gomez was posted online, rumors of them getting back together started when a source said they were spotted kissing and cuddling after Bieber's concert in Norway. Gomez reportedly flew to Europe to spend some time with the singer while he is on his Believe tour.

When asked on April 24 during a radio interview about her relationship status with Bieber and rumors of them dating again, Gomez said, "I'm in my twenties. I wanna have fun."

"I wanna enjoy my life and not have to worry about every single thing. I think I've actually given enough of myself, it that makes sense," she added, when asked again about Bieber. "I feel within my music, and even how I handle myself in interviews, people think they know, but they really actually don't... in a way, I like to keep myself a little bit private, but at the same time people do assume things."
