More and more rumors of the Nintendo NX have been coming up lately. Can the increased in rumors possibly signal a nearing release date?

The release date for the Nintendo NX has been set for early 2017, but with the frequency of rumors emerging right now, it seems like the veteran gaming firm is cooking up a surprise for its longtime fans. In fact, some rumors even state that Nintendo might surprise everyone by launching the NX in time for the 2016 holiday season.

Nevertheless, there is no denying that the rumors surrounding the Nintendo NX are getting more interesting by the day.

Nintendo NX to Have Streaming Service

Rumors have emerged stating that the Nintendo NX would feature a brand new feature for its new console. This feature would be a lot like an on-demand service, allowing players to access Nintendo's vast library of games through a subscription. That means that classic games like Metroid 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3 could be streamed and played through the NX.

If rumors about this feature do prove true, Nintendo might have just made the NX a winner through this feature alone.

Nintendo NX to be Compatible with DS Cartridges

The Nintendo NX will use cartridges. That much is certain at this point, with rumors and leaks seemingly confirming the assumption. If this were true, however, there is a good chance that Nintendo might opt to use proprietary SD cards to carry its games, much like the games that are utilized for its handheld device, the 3DS. With this, the NX might be able to have some sort of backward compatibility with DS and 3DS games.

With this, the Nintendo NX might be the console to finally enable gamers to enjoy handheld and console gaming in a unified, streamlined platform.

Nintendo NX Launch Titles

Though the official lineup of games that would be available during the device's launch has not been released as of date. However, Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara has asserted that there would be classic Pokemon games that would be featured in the NX.

Considering how important the NX is to the hardware business of Nintendo, it is not hard to see that the gaming giant is not pulling any stops in its quest to reclaim its throne atop the console market.
