A lot of locked Android smartphone users have been waiting for the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to hit their handsets. The owners of Google's Nexus 9 under T-Mobile are lucky enough to obtain the recent upgrade made by the Google.

According to Phone Arena the Android 7.1.1 Nougat has been released for less than a week now.  Nevertheless not all supported Nexus and Pixel handsets obtained the said firmware update. It is notable that he unlocked units already received the latest version of Android Nougat but then the users of carrier-branded smartphones are still waiting for Android 7.1.1 to hit their phones.

The owners of the Nexus 9 under T-Mobile were fortunate as the much awaited operating system update landed on this device. Additionally, the carrier also confirmed that those who updated their smartphones to Android 7.1.1 Nougat will also receive security patch this month that will bring some bug fixes to their respective gadgets. Aside from the patch, maintenance updates will probably continue to hit the Nexus 9 for some time.

Moreover, Android Authority has stated on its report that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat will bring new features to Nexus 9. The enhancement that the new firmware brings include app shortcuts directly from the home screen together with support for sending GIFs from the keyboard on messaging apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts. The Android 7.1.1 also delivers new set of emoji characters that can be used.

So for the owners of Nexus 9 under T-Mobile's wireless network, one can manually check if the update is already available for download by going to Settings, then tap About Device and finally select Software Update. Nonetheless, if users are not able to see the firmware update on their handsets, it maybe because the over-the-air software updates can occasionally take a few days to reach everyone's smartphone on the network.
