Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis has issued an apology for statements he made against a jury that recently found him guilty of assault and false imprisonment.

In an interview after the trial, Francis railed against the jurors in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"I want that jury to know that each and every one of you are mentally f--ing retarded and you should be euthanized," Francis stated. "And if that jury wants to convict me because I didn't show up, which is the only reason why they did, then, you know, they should all be lined up and shot!"

The entrepreneur also stated that only stupid people wind up actually completing jury duty since smart citizens can come up with excuses to avoid it.

Francis, who was found guilty on charges of assault and falsely imprisoning three girls, has had numerous problems with the law in the past. This current matter, which stems from actions taken in 2011 at his Bel-Air, Calif. home, could result in up to 5 years in prison, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

However, Francis issued an apology on Thursday. He claims his rage at the verdict flows from the fact that he is innocent and resents being convicted of a crime he did not commit.

"I deeply regret the remarks attributed to me in the interview with the Hollywood Reporter. They were hurtful and do not reflect my true feelings," Francis said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I did NOT commit a crime at all whatsoever," Francis continued. "All that was publicized were my most intemperate remarks that were borne out of frustration but with no intent to cause anyone harm. I am not, nor have I ever been a violent person. My comments are appalling, but anyone who has ever been wrongfully convicted of a crime that they did NOT commit would be as frustrated as I am."

Francis' sentencing is set to take place in July.
