His father may have won the Presidency over her mother, but that doesn't mean Chelsea Clinton thinks people should be picking on 10-year-old Barron Trump, who has been scrutinized for his apparent lack of engagement during his father's inauguration on Friday.

Following comments from people like SNL writer Katie Rich and Modern Family Actress Julie Bowen on social media which drew criticism, Clinton took to her own Facebook page to defend Trump, and also used the post to discuss opposition to his father's policies that she feels could also hurt children.

"Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing POTUS policies that hurt kids," she wrote.

Some criticized the post for quickly attacking potential policies Trump could enact as POTUS, but others have since remarked positively on her comment because she was encouraging people to lay off Barron.

Clinton is familiar with negative comments being made about first children after several were made about her appearance as she grew up in the White House in the 1990s, according to the Daily Mail. She was 12 years old when her father, Bill Clinton, was inaugurated as the 42nd President of the United States.

The comments against Barron on Friday have since gone viral and received major backlash, Rich has since deleted a tweet where she said he would be the country's first "homeschool shooter" and has also switched her account to private after the backlash.

Bowen has not commented on her Instagram posts, four of which noticed Barron's apparent reactions to things his father was doing, and one which mentioned the size of the crowds at the inauguration.
