The "Trust Nobody" singer Selena Gomez had talked openly about her stay in rehab during the Netflix's "13 Reason Why" panel. Gomez also elaborated her experiences on the show wherein she has a personal attachment to the story.

According to US weekly, it was on Feb. 8 when Selena Gomez had faced the panel for Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" in New York City wherein she spoke about her recent treatment in rehab along with executive producing the series. The singer-actress who is producing the show along with her mother, Mandy Teefey, shared that the challenges she had faced influenced her participation in the "13 Reasons Why".

It was noted that the "13 Reasons Why" is based on Jay Asher's YA novel of the same name, which conveys the story behind the main character Hannah Baker's decision to commit suicide. Before Baker's death, the teenaged girl recorded 13 tapes which are then passed along to 13 of her high school classmates, who played a part in her decision.

Furthermore, E! News Selena Gomez stated that she thought her high school experience was amplified. "I wouldn't say it was worse, but it made it harder" she continued. The singer-actress even emphasized that it's not about the school but it was also up to adults that had the courage to tell her how she ought to live her own life.

Selena Gomez also said that she is going through a really hard time when they started production of "13 Reasons Why." She then added that "I went away for 90 days, and I actually met a ton of kids in this place that is talking about issues that these characters are experiencing. Whether I like it or not, people have seen a lot of my mistakes and I had to use that as a good thing because then they're able to trust me." Selena Gomez went on as she stated that "I want to be a part of this because I think this is what they want, this is what they need."

Singer-actress Selena Gomez pursued treatment at a Tennessee facility October last year after withdrawing from the remaining 34 dates of her "Revival" world tour. Now, she is working on Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" together with her mom.
