Katy Perry doesn't care what you think of her at this point in her career.

Perry might be in the world of show business, but she's past the point of truly caring what people think. The singer has millions of fans through all her social media channels and she's fine with just being who she is.

"I've given up on what people think about me," Perry told People recently. "I have a great group of people around me that I listen to and value their opinions." She does not bother looking at comments she receives on such sites, however, revealing that she "gave up" on doing so.

Perry is back with a new single, "Chained to the Rhythm", and a new footwear line set to come out next week. Finding success in both fields, she is hoping to keep being her in 2017.

"Fashion is a way to express yourself," she noted. "We can say we're funny or romantic or serious or sarcastic just by how we display ourselves."

Her unique fashion sense was developed through her humble beginnings in Los Angeles.

"When I first got to L.A., I cultivated my style on a budget, always shopping at thrift stores or vintage stores," Perry recalled. "Once, I found these flats that looked like Dalmatian dogs. They had ears that moved and a tongue that stuck out. They were such a conversation piece."

This fashion sense is also what's helped her communicate with the world around her.

"That's what is so great about fashion," she noted. "It's a form of communication. You don't have to start a smoking habit to start talking to someone. You can just wear cool shoes. It's an icebreaker."

Perry's new single, "Chained to the Rhythm", is climbing up the charts since being released at midnight. The song features Skip Marley, grandson of Bob Marley, and features themes of living outside the box and the dangers of living in a bubble.
