Stephen King is an iconic author of bone-chilling tales and several of his written masterpieces have already been adapted as movies. The latest work of Stephen King transformed as a live-action project is "Gerald's Game."

Although most of Stephen King's work are considered to be leaning on the dark, unfathomable psychological depth of man, "Gerald's Game" is deemed to be one with the most twisted plot. For those who are not yet familiar with the story, it is about a romantic getaway between a married couple that ends in a sour note.

The romantic getaway of the main characters, Gerald and Jessie, ends with deadly consequences and the latter is left alone in an isolated lakeside house. During her solace, Jessie is haunted by her deepes, darkest secrets, memories and fears.

A lot of producers and scriptwriters have reportedly passed on the project because of the complexity of the plot's psychological nature. However, a filmmaker finally took on the challenge and the rest is history for Stephen King's masterpiece.

According to Dread Central, American filmmaker, Mike Flanagan, took on the task to oversee "Gerald's Game." Bruce Greenwood plays the role of Gerald while Carla Gugino plays the role of Jessie. Other cast members include Carel Struycken and Henry Thomas.

With the heavily twisted psychological plot of "Gerald's Game," many are curious as to how the lead actors are dealing with their respective roles. "It was one of the hardest, most challenging shoots I've ever done, which is saying a lot," said Carla Gugino. "I've definitely chosen some material that's been really challenging. I think Mike is absolutely the man for the job. It's one of the most fulfilling things I've done," she added.

Meanwhile, Stephen King himself has already reviewed the adaptation of "Gerald's Game." According to Comic Book, Stephen King took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the adaptation. The world-renowned author was reportedly given a rough cut of the post-production copy.

"Gerald's Game" is set to be aired on Netflix. However, "Gerald's Game" air date remains to be announced. Are you excited to see the latest Stephen King adaptation? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
