With anticipation riding high, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill and Amy Adams hit the red carpet Monday night in support of the film's premiere.

Cavill and Adams attended the New York City-held world premiere of Man of Steel, each looking sharply dressed. Adams wore a black, strapless Nina Ricci dress, matching Cavill's gray Tom Ford suit and black tie.

Adams made an appearance on Chelsea Lately last week to promote the film, and noted her 3-year-old daughter's crush on Cavill.

"It started when she met him, she liked the look of the 'suit,' so when he turned around . . . she goosed him."

Adams, who plays Lois Lane in the film, also talked about how she always had a crush on Superman as a kid.

As of Tuesday morning, Man of Steel has a score of 72 percent on movie critic aggregate Rotten Tomatoes, meaning it is "Certified Fresh." The film has 23 positive reviews and nine negative. The two-and-a-half hour blockbuster is set to open in theaters on Friday.

Popular movie ticket website Fandango revealed last week that Man of Steel was their biggest ticket seller of the week, despite not even coming out yet.

With Man of Steel becoming a financial success, the film's producer, Warner Bros., are reportedly already planning the sequel. The subsequent film would have the same director and writer as the first: Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer, respectively, according to Deadline.

As far as Christopher Nolan's role going forward, he will continue to be a consulting producer. His role, however, will be significantly decreased as the Dark Knight director works on his own projects. Nolan's next film will be the science thriller Interstellar, starring Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey. It is set for a 2014 release date.

Man of Steel will be premiering on Friday, June 14, in theaters nationwide.
