Wendy Williams defended her marriage after her husband, Kevin Hunter, was reportedly in a relationship with another woman for almost a decade. But it’s been revealed who sparked the speculation to begin with.

Word is it was none other than people who work for Williams’ daytime talk show The Wendy Williams Show, who leaked the story. Let’s just say they no longer have their jobs.

“Wendy found out who was behind the story and they were actually people from her staff,” an insider told The Jasmine Brand Thursday. “She fired anyone who was connected to the story because it was not only fake, but it showed how disloyal they were to her. She’can’t trust someone who would do that to her. She fired a number of her staff, including some producers.”

It might be safe to say while it’s completely false, Williams wasn’t going to just let the story go until she got to the bottom of it. It’s not clear if she expected it to be an inside job.

“Look, Wendy trusts her husband,” the source added. “She knows that women want him, especially now more than ever. She’s not letting any of this get to her.”

Williams took to her talk show to address the rumors about her husband living a double life and she certainly didn’t seen fazed by any of it.

“It’s weird doing Hot Topics and being a hot topic,” she said. “It’s some sort of weird story going around the Internet regarding my husband. You can believe what you want, but… I stand by my guy. We commuted this morning. All is well in Hunterville. Don’t believe the hype and if there was hype, believe me you – I would let you know. I’ll be following this story, so I guess I’ll have to watch to find out what happens.”
