Rapper Drake has kept quiet about the altercation that took place with singer Chris Brown at a New York City club last year, but in the July issue of GQ magazine, the rapper opened up, claiming he wished he could sit down and talk to Brown man-to-man about the fight.

The 26-year-old Started From the Bottom rapper and Brown, 24, both attended W.i.P night club last June are reportedly sent each other messages and bottles of alcohol back and forth. At the time, reports indicated that Drake sent a note through a waitress suggesting that he had slept with Brown's ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. The back-and-forth soon led to a huge brawl that left a bodyguard, the restaurant, basketball player Tony Parker, and Brown all injured.

But looking back at the incident, Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, told GQ that he wishes he could be cordial with Brown.

"I hear he has everything he could want now," Drake said. "I don't want my name to be synonymous with that guy's name. I really don't. I wish we could sit down, just like you and me are right now, and talk it out man-to-man. But that's not going to happen."

Drake elaborated on his issues with Brown and said that he problem with Brown is much deeper than what it really appears to be.

"I'm not confrontational but if someone challenges, I'm not going to back down. If I think about it too much, I feel it wrapping around my foot, like I get a feeling it could end really badly ... like, it gets really dark," he said.

The rapper admitted that the way the altercation was covered in the media made him look like the enemy.

"It's embarrassing, the amount of media coverage...Two rappers fighting over the woman. He's not even a rapper, but still, it's the last way you want your name out there. It distracts from the music. But he's made me the enemy, and that's the way it's gonna stay, I guess," he said.

The Grammy- award winner is gearing up for his Would You Like Tour, which will hit 41 cities kicking off in Portland, Ore., on Sept. 25.
