Is Selena Gomez having second thoughts about the end of her romance with The Weeknd?

According to a new report, Gomez and her fellow musician had plans to spend the holiday together before their relationship came to a sudden end in late October. Now, as she faces her family's reported issues with Justin Bieber, she's reportedly wondering if she made the right choice despite being happier than ever with Bieber.

“Selena is not ending her year the way she anticipated at all. She was expecting to spend the holidays with The Weeknd, he was invited to be with her and her family and they had all kinds of plans," a source close to the singer told Hollywood Life on Dec. 15. "But instead she’s making different plans with Justin. It’s not something she ever saw coming, but she’s happier than she has ever been.”

Gomez began dating The Weeknd in January of this year and on Jan. 10, they were photographed together for the first time. As fans will recall, the couple was caught walking with their arms wrapped around each other after enjoying a dinner date in Santa Monica. Then, one month later, the couple visited a number of cities in Italy.

In the months that followed their romantic Italian vacation, Gomez and The Weeknd made a number of red carpet appearances with one another, one of which happened at the Met Gala in New York City in May.

Gomez and The Weeknd appeared to be doing quite well in their relationship but unfortunately, their good times came to an abrupt end in October and Gomez quickly stepped out with Bieber.

“She can’t help but think about The Weeknd at times... But mostly her mind is on Justin and how happy they are right now,” the insider added.

Although Gomez's relationship with The Weeknd seemed to end badly at first with The Weeknd deleting all images of the "Wolves" singer from his Instagram page, Gomez claimed to Billboard magazine around the same time that she and her ex-boyfriend had remained close friends despite their split.

“There’s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd]. I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life," she told the magazine. "We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other]."
