Selena Gomez's Mom Still Hasn't Accepted Justin Bieber Back Into Their Family

Selena Gomez's mom isn't ready to turn over a new leaf when it comes to her thoughts on her daughter's on-again, off-again boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

Months into Gomez and Bieber's reconciliation, Mandy Teefy is said to be holding a grudge against Bieber, who reportedly cheated on her daughter a number of times during their drama-plagued relationship years ago.

“Selena is still trying to convince her Mom that Justin has changed for the better," a source told Hollywood Life on Feb. 14. "There is still animosity there."

Gomez and Bieber reunited in October of last year and quickly confirmed they were involved in a romance when they were spotted kissing weeks later at a hockey game in Los Angeles. At the time of their reunion, Gomez was newly single after calling it quits with The Weeknd following 10 months of dating. 

After Gomez's reunion with Bieber, her mother made it clear during an interview with Gossip Cop that she was not happy about the reconciliation. Also during the interview, Teefy acknowledged that Gomez was an adult and is free to make her own decisions.

Although rumors began swirling days ago which suggested Gomez and Teefy were finally getting on the same page with one another, the Hollywood Life insider said that the two women still have a long way to go when it comes to Teefy coming around to Gomez's romance with Bieber.

"It is certainly better but it seems it's going to still take some time for her Mom to change her thoughts on Justin," the source said. "She still is in protect-Selena mode and she always will be, but Justin isn’t out of the woods just yet as her Mom still needs much more convincing things have really changed for the better.”

During a fight on Instagram nearly two years ago, Gomez called out Bieber for flaunting his relationship with Sofia Richie before slamming him for cheating on her with a number of women. Bieber then took aim at Gomez and claimed his then-ex-girlfriend was attempting to use their strained relationship to gain attention for herself. 

Following the fight, Gomez and Bieber kept their distance from one another for years as Gomez tended to her health needs in rehab and began dating The Weeknd.

Since getting back together, Gomez and Bieber have been visiting church frequently and have also been seen at an ice rink in Los Angeles on occasion.
