Rapper Kanye West is back from a nine-month Instagram hiatus and what better way to announce this than to greet Kim Kardashian on Valentine's Day via the platform.

Many fans were shocked when West decided to take a vacation from social media. That was way back in May last year, which meant that fans had to grapple with updates about the rapper from other people.

A Valentine's Day Return

There was no established reason for his action last year, though many predicted that West had taken a break from social media to work on a new project, particularly new songs. So this February, he decided to make his presence felt again, as timely as it seems, to express his love for his wife, Kardashian, in the simplest and old-fashioned way.

"Happy Valentines Day babe," wrote West in a white card atop what looked like a table.

The minimalist photo had no caption and has gotten more than 400,000 likes as of writing. He also made this his display photo. His Instagram account initially had no posts, except for the image of the card, though this was followed by a series of photos of couples, former couples, and even people who were just linked.

Seemingly to share his Valentine's greeting to other famous couples, he uploaded classic photos of power pairs in the biz. Some of which are Michelle and Barack Obama; Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi; and Victoria and David Beckham.

Noticeably, West also uploaded former couples who made a buzz in Hollywood many years ago. Some of these are Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton; Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt; Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder; Jennifer Aniston and Pitt; and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.

Whether his choices of photos to upload would stir controversy in the following days, fans would have to wait. The reason for this move was also unclear, and fans could only give guesses as the 40-year-old "Heartless" singer, apart from the said posts, is keeping mum.

Kim's Valentine's Day Message To Kanye

As inactive as West is on his social media accounts, is the opposite of Kardashian, who, predictably took to her accounts to deliver her Valentine's message.

"I love you to infinity! Happy Valentine's Day!!!" Kardashian wrote in her Instagram post that showed West hugging her from behind, mindless of the paparazzi in the background.

The KKW Beauty owner also extended her greeting on microblogging site Twitter, when she shared a photo of her and West sharing a kiss against a scenic background.
