Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have called their marriage quits. It all boils down to lifestyle differences, according to Jennifer's closest friends.

In an official statement released Thursday, the Hollywood power couple confirmed the rumors that their relationship has ended since late last year.

The former couple had met and became friends on the set of Wanderlust in 2011 before they exchanged vows in 2015.

It was Justin's first marriage and Jennifer's second. The Friends actress was first married to Brad Pitt before they got divorced five years later.

New York Versus San Francisco

"This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year," read the statement sent to the press. "We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship."

Jennifer and Justin also made subtle remarks against the tabloids that are trying to brew conflict on both parties.

"Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else's fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another," the statement continues.

A close friend of Aniston said differences in lifestyle is what ultimately led Jennifer and Justin to grow apart. The 46-year-old actor prefers living in New York City, while Aniston is inseparable from her Bel Air mansion in San Francisco, California.

"As they spent more and more time apart, their problems became bigger. He's very focused on himself and his craft," the source said. "And Jen is not the easygoing girl she wants the public to think she is. She isn't as happy, and she is far more complicated."

The Last Jedi actor's natural nomadic tendencies were uncomfortable for his ex-wife. On the other hand, he was also less happy having to mingle with Jennifer's circle of friends.

Misleading Magazine Interview

Despite the breakup rumors surrounding their marriage, Jennifer and Justin were frequently seen together in private and public functions. In April last year, the two were spotted on a romantic getaway to Paris for the Séries Mania Festival.

In fact, Jennifer also appeared as the issue cover of Architectural Digest featuring her and Justin's Bel-Air love nest. The actress lovingly said she could not imagine herself being anywhere other than near her husband, their dogs, and the house.

Amy Astley, an editor at Architectural Digest, said the magazine had no hint whatsoever that the couple had already parted.

"Everyone's phones started pinging with a news alert that Jen and Justin had split. It was all rather embarrassing. The magazine editors had no idea," Astley said.
