Justin Bieber News: Monkey, Former Pet Mally Released from Quarantine in Germany [PHOTOS]
Customs agents released Justin Bieber's former pet monkey from quarantine on Wednesday at his new home in a nearby zoo following an incident that took place with the Canadian singer in March.
Mally moved to a new enclosure at the Serengeti Wildlife Park in Hodenhagen, northern Germany this week, Celebuzz reported. The 6-month-old animal was transferred to the zoo in May from a Munich animal shelter where he had been since being seized by German customs on March 28. Customs took a hold of Mally after Bieber failed to present necessary care-taking documents to travel with the pet at the Munich Airport.
The zoo's manager, Fabrizio Sepe, said Mally will soon be introduced to the other capuchin monkeys at the park.
"Mally is a clever little guy and we're confident that he will settle in quickly," he said.
When the March incident took place, Bieber was on the European leg of Believe world tour. He failed to sort out vaccination and permission to import a live animal when he stopped in Germany, so Mally was sent to an animal shelter. The Canadian 19-year-old was detained at Munich airport following a flight from Los Angeles, Metro reported. He was given a month to claim his pet back but when he failed to do so in the allotted time, Mally's ownership was transferred to the German state on May 21.
Bieber reportedly broke strict health laws by flying Mally into Germany on his private jet without the proper paperwork and the animal was left at the airport while Bieber was in the country. Reports claimed that Mally was a 19th birthday gift for Bieber from his friend Jamal Rashid, a music producer also known as Mally Mall.
The singer previously posted pictures with Mally on his Instagram account.
