The Weeknd may have dated Selena Gomez for a year but according to a new report, Bella Hadid has always had his heart.

On the heels of the release of The Weeknd's new album, My Dear Melancholy, a source claims The Weeknd's love for ex-girlfriend Hadid never died, despite the time he spent with Gomez in 2017.

In the song "Wasted Times," The Weeknd seems to refer to his relationship with the model singing, "You were an equestrian, so ride it like a champion." As E! News pointed out on March 30, Hadid used to be a competitive equestrian.

The Weeknd then appears to say that the time he spent away from Hadid when he was dating Gomez was a complete waste of his time.

"Wasted times I spent with someone else. She wasn't even half of you," he sings.

Bella Hadid And The Weeknd Dated For Two Years

Hadid and The Weeknd began dating in May 2015 and made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala the following year. Throughout their relationship, Hadid and The Weeknd were extremely private about their romance and didn't share much about their relationship on social media or in the press. Then, in late 2016, they called it quits.

As fans may recall, Hadid and The Weeknd were forced to come face-to-face just weeks after their split was announced at the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. During the event, Hadid was seen walking the runway as her former boyfriend performed alongside her.

While the public encounter between the couple may have been quite awkward, they didn't make it seem that way on-camera. In fact, they seemed to be happy to see one another, regardless of the public platform in which their reunion took place.

Bella Hadid And The Weeknd Reunited At The End Of 2017

After The Weeknd's ex-girlfriend Gomez began spending time with her former boyfriend, Justin Bieber, in October of last year, he suddenly turned up at her New York City apartment and quickly sparked rumors about the two of them possibly getting back together.

Now, months later, after the release of The Weeknd's new album, fans are even more convinced that the love between Hadid and The Weeknd hasn't died out.

"And even though you put my life through hell. I can't seem to forget 'bout you, 'bout you. I want you to myself," another lyric said.
