'The World's End' Trailer: Newton Haven Spoofs Tourist Video and TV Spot
From the extremely inventive minds of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright comes the third installment of "The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy"--a film about beer, robots, and, of course, fence jumping.
A new TV spot for The World's End hit the Internet, bringing with it the hilarious horror treatment fans have come to expect from the duo.
As a group of British friends are cajoled by Gary (Simon Pegg) into finishing a pub-crawl they once failed at as youths, they find themselves confronted by more than a day-after hangover.
Instead, a quiet English town becomes ground zero for a fight for human survival against its robotic inhabitants and tall, stick figure-like monsters. While the men attempt to ignore the problem and finish their drinks, they soon find themselves chopping off heads and running from extremely tall females equipped with robotic spinning arms.
The violent robots definitely weren't mentioned in the friendly Newton Haven Tourism Video, instead the it showcases the towns gardens, fountains, roundabouts, and Golden Mile Pub Crawl in. After a brief moment of fuzzy footage, during which you can hear Frost's character yell "I f---ing hate this town," the tourist guide encourages you to "please use alcohol responsibly."
The film features Pegg's frequent costar Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) along with Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz) and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and is due out Aug. 23.
