Royal baby number three is here! Prince William and his wife, The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, welcomed another son.

A Royal Baby Arrival

Kensington Palace announced the news just hours after Middleton gave birth.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs,” read the statement.

The palace went on to announce that the newborn weighs 8 lbs and 7oz. and confirmed that Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge, was there for the delivery.

Members of the royal family including The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William’s brother, Prince Harry, and more royal relatives received updates on the royal baby’s arrival, the statement added. The family is reportedly “delighted” about the addition to the family.

The palace also gave the public an update on Middleton’s health after her delivery and said that she and the baby boy are doing fine. The baby’s name will be released soon, and it looks like Arthur and Albert are the top picks for possible names for the newborn.

As for the newborn's big brother, four-year-old Prince George, he was said to be at school when Middleton gave birth. Princess Charlotte, who will turn 3 next month, was at the Kensington Palace.

Delivery Details

Along with the royal family’s statement, the Royalist Town Crier stood on the steps of the Lindo Wing to shout the news of the royal baby’s arrival just moments after Middleton delivered at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. It’s the same facility where she gave birth to Princess Charlotte and Prince George.

Middleton checked into the prestigious hospital just before 6 a.m. U.K. time. At the time, she was in the early stages of labor.

A Royal Celebration

According to royal tradition, members of the family will visit the baby, Middleton, and Prince William, before they head home from the hospital. The celebration will continue with a gun salute in a London park as well as a visit from Queen Elizabeth once the couple and their child arrive home at Kensington Palace.

Meanwhile, fans and the public have camped out at the hospital with the anticipation of getting a glimpse at the royal baby when Prince William and Middleton hold a small press meeting similar to the ones they did for their two oldest children.
