Redmond O'Neal, son of Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, is charged with attempted murder. The 33-year-old has had several run-ins with the law.

Very Serious Crimes

O'Neal was also charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal threats, one count of brandishing a knife, and one count of battery.

The Hollywood power couple's troubled son was arrested on Friday. He was charged with attempted murder amid a whole tangle of crimes committed during a days-long spree in Southern California, according to the local law enforcement.

The local authorities said he began attacking passersby at random May 2 and continued through to May 5. O'Neal has a long history of issues throughout much of his adult life, mostly related to his ongoing drug addiction.

The 33-year-old allegedly attacked a number of strangers purely for making eye contact with him. He stands accused of two stabbings in and around the Venice area on May 4. Both victims have major injuries as a result of the incidents.

O'Neal was finally arrested following an armed robbery at a convenience store. He was identified as the suspect in every case, including a 7-Eleven holdup, according to the police. The suspect was described as having red hair and distinctive tattoos, much like O'Neal.

Redmond reportedly threatened a clerk at the convenience store with a knife, demanding money from the cash register. He fled the scene once the cash was handed over to him.

Police caught up with O'Neal following a call from a passerby. Employees said he had been watching the store for hours in anticipation of robbing it. When authorities arrested O'Neal, they found him in possession of a knife similar to the description given by the clerk in question.

He remains in custody at the Los Angeles County Central Jail where he's expected to be jailed for one month.

Ongoing Legal Troubles

This is not O'Neal's first brush with the law. He was previously busted for drug possession and also attended rehab in the past.

Back in 2015, he was sentenced to three years in jail after violating agreements made in relation to his drug rehabilitation program.

He was also arrested for heroin possession in 2008. In 2011, his probation was revoked after he admitted to using drugs in court-ordered rehab. In May this year, O'Neal reportedly attacked five men in unprovoked confrontations.

His lawyer appeared in court Friday, with O'Neal previously pleading not guilty to all charges. The judge of the case denied him bail. The charges also include possession of methamphetamine and heroin.

Charlie's Angels star Fawcett passed away on June 25, 2009, at age 62, of cancer. According to Ryan, his son has never recovered from the loss of his mother.
