Cameron Diaz is not retired from acting, Selma Blair clarifies, adding that she was joking when she said her pal is quitting the business.

Just Kidding, Says Blair

Blair, 45, goes on Twitter to backtrack from her earlier statements on her friend's retirement.

"CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from anything," she wrote emphatically, adding that she, on the other hand, is retiring from her self-appointed role as the Charlie's Angels star's rep.

The Heathers actress likely had no idea that her off the cuff remark would be taken seriously when she talked about her The Sweetest Thing costar in a Metro interview.

"I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron's retired from acting," Blair says about their 2012 film together. "We were reminiscing about the film. She's like, 'I'm done.' I mean, she doesn't need to make any more films. She has a pretty great life, I don't know what it would take to bring her back. She's happy."

Diaz: A Life Outside The Spotlight

Diaz, 45, has not made a statement regarding her supposed retirement.

However, many of her fans have noticed her retreat from the spotlight about 20 years after she charmed moviegoers in her The Mask debut. While she may have not officially retired, the actress has not appeared on the big screen since her role in Annie in 2014.

Last year, the actress even addressed stepping back from her profession.

"I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself,' Diaz explains in Entertainment Tonight. "Which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole."

Instead of continuing her trajectory as an A-list actress, she went the Gwyneth Paltrow route and focused on her wellness journey. The actress-turned-lifestyle guru released the best-selling The Body Book in 2013, then followed it with The Longevity Book in 2016.

Diaz has also been focusing on creating a life with husband Benji Madden, who she met in 2014 and wed in 2015. The Good Charlotte rocker, like his wife, is adamant about keeping their relationship private.

"It's a personal choice but it also comes second nature to us," Madden says in an interview in February. "We're just happy. The less outside elements or influence that there is the better for anyone. That's our vibe."
