Perhaps, 2019 is the year of high-profile weddings and proposals in Hollywood. If you need another proof, look no further than Colin Jost's proposal to "Avengers" star Scarlett Johansson.

Last May 2019, Johansson got engaged to her boyfriend Jost after two years of dating. This was confirmed by her representative, though the wedding date has yet to be set.

The engagement was private, and they did not release any information about it until now. Johansson, however, already shared how happy she was about the news since their marriage can also make Rose, her four-year-old daughter, happy.

The two first met during the actress' third time of hosting "Saturday Night Live" in 2010, where Jost did a skit and Johansson called it "dumb parody."

Years after, they were set up by SNL star Kate McKinnon after Johansson went to the show for the fifth time as one of the hosts. They were seen numerous times in public following their SNL meeting.

Eventually, Johannson and Jost announced their relationship to the public a few months later at the American Museum of Natural History.

The Proposal

In the recent episode of Ellen DeGeneres, Johansson revealed that the proposal was "very personal" and Jost managed to surprise her.

The 34-year-old actress did not reveal the details of the whole proposal, but she compared the beautiful moment to a "James Bond situation" since her fiancé had a lot more behind the curtain that caught her off-guard.

The pear-shaped ring Jost gave to Johansson was also named as the "James Bond of the Jewelry" by its maker, James de Givenchy.

She wanted to remain discreet about the proposal, although she described Jost as "charming, thoughtful, and romantic."

Ellen, seemingly wanting to get out more, then asked if a hot air balloon was involved during the proposal. However, Johansson clarified that having someone to tell you that he wants to spend his life with you was already special.

Their marriage will be Johansson's third. She first got married to Ryan Reynolds in 2008 (they split in 2011) and to her daughter's father, Romain Dauriac in 2014.

Jost remained silent about who his past partners were. He even joked about being scared to get married during his stand-up performance three months ago, though he is now clearly embracing those fears with Johansson.

Scarlett Johansson, Bride and Black Widow

Black Widow is set to hit the big screens on May 1, 2020. This is her first solo Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Unfortunately, her character died in "The Avengers: Endgame," making this movie a prequel instead.

This is still good news, though. And when she was asked by Entertainment Tonight about the prequel, she answered, "Closure? I hope so."

Fans expect that this "closure movie" will introduce the next Black Widow, who will reportedly replace Johansson on the Avengers team. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 is expected to end in November of next year, and maybe Johansson will not be included in the casting anymore.

She will be happily married by then, anyway.
