After a series of cryptic throwback posts, 27-year-old singer-actress Selena Gomez finally makes a grand comeback in the music scene.

Gomez's latest single "Lose You to Love Me" has finally been released by Interscope Records on Tuesday, October 22. It has been four years since Gomez's last album, 'Revival,' and the fans have been itching for her to release a follow-up.

The songstress did not disappoint though. She returned to the spotlight with a bolder version of herself, as she brings another batch of astounding music.

Soulful and Emotional

"Lose You to Love Me" successfully tugs at the emotions of its listeners. It conveys the feelings of pain and anger, which trickled into peace and acceptance as the song drew to its end. The accompanying video was emotional and austere, setting a fitting tone as Gomez delivers the song with fervent.

"I needed to lose you to find me / I needed to hate you to love me," Gomez sings.

No name has been dragged into the actual song, but that didn't stop the fans from speculating that this is all about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber's official breakup.

Actually, right from the day Gomez teased the title of her track, fans have already been convinced that the song was a shade to the her ex-lover.

Taking another part of the track lyrics, Gomez sings, "In two months you replaced us / Like it was easy / Made me think I deserved it."

In late 2017, Gomez and Bieber gave their relationship another shot. But like the numerous times before, they went on their separate ways. A few months after their latest breakup, Bieber got engaged to Hailey Baldwin.

Baldwin and Bieber got married in September 2018 and even had a second wedding this 2019. Fans couldn't help but theorize that the said lyrics was subtly hinting on these events, further analyzing that "Gomez lost Bieber, and in doing so, she found herself."

A Better Selena

Prior to dropping her new song, Gomez teased the online world with a series of throwback pictures from her childhood. The posts were captioned with poetic words which, as discovered now, were actually teasers for the lyrics of her single.

Considering her hints, a few fans were convinced that the song was actually talking about the need for Gomez to "lose" herself in order to "find" her better version.

On YouTube, Gomez explains, "This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself."

Back in June, Gomez revealed that she was actually done with the album. On her appearance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer shared that all that's left to make for the album were a few finishing touches.

"It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album," Gomez told Fallon. "I love everything that I get to do and be part of, but specifically something that connects to people on an emotional level is my favorite."

"Lose You to Love Me" has lived up to her statement.

Gomez's last solo track traces to 2018, when she recorded "Back to You" for the second season of Netflix's hit series "13 Reasons Why." She had been hooked into collaborations since then, the latest one with Benny Blanco, Tainy and J Balvin for "I Can't Get Enough."
