NBA player, Kevin Durant is engaged to his girlfriend, Monica Wright, according to reports.

MediaTakeout reported that 24-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder player proposed to WNBA player, Wright, 24 on July 6. In a picture obtained by the site, Wright shows off her diamond engagement ring. See photos of Wright's ring here:

The couple has been close friends since high school, and recently took their relationship to a more serious level months ago.

Romance rumors for Durant swirled in 2011 when he tweeted: "Maybe I need a basketball playing girlfriend...hmm lol...monica wright where r u(love and basketball."

After Durant donated $1 million to the tornado relief in Oklahoma earlier this year, Wright gushed about Durant, stating: "He's got a heart of gold, and anytime (something like) this happens, he's the first one who wants to help."

Speaking about their relationship back in May, the Minnesota Lynx guard said: "I've known him for a long time."

"A lot of it has to do with basketball," Wright added. "That's how we've known each other. But he's helped me, coached me. He's actually a type of player I want to be like."

Meanwhile, Durant who recently signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports said fans shouldn't be worried about him leaving the Thunder when his contract expires.

"He has nothing to do with if I'm going to leave OKC or none of that," Durant told The Oklahoman paper "I heard that before, so put that out on the table. He has nothing to do with that. He knows his lane with me. Their team knows their lane with me. And they're letting me handle the basketball part. I would tell fans not to worry about that at all."

After signing, Robinson Cano, Geno Smith, Skylar Diggins, Durant became Roc Nation Sports' first NBA client.

"It just seemed like a perfect move to me, something that there's no risk in doing," Durant told ESPN.com.
